Sikidang Crater is one of the active volcanic features of Mount Dieng. It is recommended to wear a mask when visiting the crater due to the strong sulfur smell, and don’t forget to wear a jacket or thick clothing as the air temperature here is quite cold, especially when the fog starts to roll in. Visitors can walk 1 km to the main crater, which has a diameter of +/- 10 meters and contains boiling hot mud that is silver-black in color. The average temperature of the crater water reaches 98° C.
This tourist destination is now well organized, making it a leading tourist destination for all types of tourists, especially the younger generation. The path from the entrance to the crater area has been equipped with a wooden bridge stretching nearly 2 km, providing visitors with easy, safe, and comfortable access to all areas of this tourist attraction. The natural beauty of Sikidang Crater is truly enchanting, surrounded by green hills, with white soil and rocks due to exposure to acidic and sulfuric substances. A layer of fog often shrouds the area.
