The savanna landscape dotted with ancient temples sparks the imagination of the ancient civilization of that era. Consisting of five temple buildings, namely Arjuna Temple, Srikandi Temple, Puntadewa Temple, Sembadra Temple, and Semar Temple, the Arjuna Temple Complex is the most frequently visited destination by tourists when vacationing in Dieng.

This temple complex is located in a potato farming area and is close to Lake Balekambang in the ancient Dieng region. Geographically, Arjuna Temple is located in the Banjarnegara Regency, which is easily accessible and very strategic. Arjuna Temple is the oldest Hindu temple on the island of Java. Judging from the shape and ornaments found on each temple, it is estimated that the four main temples in this complex were built at different times based on their architectural styles. For example, Arjuna Temple is older because it still has Indian Hindu accents, while Sembadra Temple shows the influence of local culture.

Unlike Borobudur and Prambanan temples, you will not find any statues inside or outside these temples. Most of the statues found in these temples are now stored in the Kailasa Museum, located not far from the temple complex. The rest are lost. These temples are named after characters from the Mahabharata epic, such as Gatotkaca Temple, Bima Temple, Arjuna Temple, Semar Temple, Sembadra Temple, Srikandi Temple, Setyaki Temple, Gangsiran Aswatama, and Dwarawati Temple.

In essence, these temples are a group of precious stones that must always be preserved so that their beauty can continue to be enjoyed. In addition to the temple complex, tourists can also witness the Dieng snow phenomenon, which can be found around this area during the dry season.
